The Super Bowl hurt me.  I was pulling for the ‘Hawks.  My former college teammate was there on the sidelines for them, and I was pulling for Urb’ to win a ring.  He was the hardest working player in division III football, and he deserves everything he gets.  I just wish he would have gotten a ring for his effort this season.

The officiating was outrageous.  I felt like Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers, because I kept shouting “erroneous!” after every bad call they made.

Holmgren completely tanked the end of each half, which certainly didn’t help the ‘Hawks.

Now onto next year’s favorite to win the Super Bowl:  Your Indianapolis Colts??????  What is that about?  Edgerrin James will not be wearing a Colts uniform next year.  And if Shaun Alexander bolts Seattle for Arizona, which would be a ridiculous mistake, the ‘Hawks should grab Edge to be their go-to back.  Other than that, the ‘Hawks won’t lose anybody, and that young defense will get Ken Hamlin back to start the season, and the rookie linebackers will have another year of experience to build from.  How can they not be the favorite to win?  What about the Patriots with a healthy defense to START the season?  What about Carolina, or the Bears with an added weapon at wideout named Randle El?  Let’s not forget the most important thing about the Colts; they’ll still have big-game Peyton at the helm.

I understand that the Steelers are going to lose a lot; Jerome Bettis, Ken Wisenhunt (Oakland’s soon-to-be head coach), and the best quarterback in black and yellow on Sunday Antwaan Randle El.  Plus, they will have to battle with Cinci again, which won’t be easy.

On to basketball for the rest of the season:  Chris Paul must be an All Star.  He and Parker are the two best guards not named Kobe and Nash in the Western Conference.  That is saying a lot, because no one is more in love with Ray Allen’s jumpshot than me.  It’s flawless.  Absolutely phenomenal, but I still think Chris Paul deserves the nod.

Some people are saying that all five starters for the Pistons deserve to be All Stars.  I can’t see that happening.  Bosh and Dwight Howard have been amazing this season, and despite being on below-average teams, they deserve the reserve forward spots over Rasheed and Tayshaun.

I can see Rip making the cut in one of the extra reserve spots, but Gilbert Arenas has been too solid on a bad team this year.  The Wizards are back to normal, but it ain’t Gilbert’s fault.  The free agent signings have given them nothing, and losing Larry Hughes was a bigger problem than previously believed.  I have no problem with Chauncey being the first reserve guard.  Heck, if not for Wade, I would say he deserved to start alongside A.I.  I even split my ballots between Wade and Billups.

Of course Ben Wallace deserves the back-up center spot.  I was waffling on that one a bit, but last week I watched Ben dominate the entire game without scoring a point.  He was all over the ball anytime it was in the paint, and dominated the glass on both ends of the court.  I think his final stat-line was 0 points, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks, and one bad-a$$ afro.  Can’t beat that with a broomstick.

I’m done for tonight, and I’ll be back soon.  That’s just how I roll folks.
